During a strange interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, Attorney General left many people confused by his lackluster answers- particularly when he seemed unsure about whether voting once by mail and then a second time in person is illegal.
Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.) was certainly not confused and he schooled Barr and then shared it on Twitter.
Of course it IS illegal for any person vote more than once in any election but that hasn’t stopped President Donald Trump from suggesting that voters do just that. During a rally in North Carolina recently, he encouraged voters to test their state’s election system by voting by mail and in person. North Carolina officials have had to remind voters that the advice given to them by their president is ILLEGAL.
Blitzer questioned Barr about Trump’s remarks but Barr declined to officially say that it was illegal, stating that he wasn’t sure of North Carolina’s specific law.
The following day, Lieu decided to clear the air in one single sentence (on letterhead, no less) that could help to educate AG Barr. He then shared the lesson he gave Barr with Twitter:
Twitter went crazy for Lieu’s epic comment.
Oh burn 🔥🔥🔥 …how the hell is Bill Barr a 2-time Attorney General again if he’s so ignorant of the law? https://t.co/PDC3rKa9z1— Eric Feigl-Ding (@DrEricDing) September 3, 2020
The Attorney General of the US would not directly confront this Trump call for criminal voter fraud. Trump is trying to wreck our democratic voting system. Where are the Republicans in Congress to not respond. America is sliding forward the edge. https://t.co/VOt6QZt3XY— Barry R McCaffrey (@mccaffreyr3) September 3, 2020
