President Donald Trump is no scientist. This is a statement that would be very hard to argue with. Thus far in Trump’s presidency he has taken great pride in reversing legislation and support for scientific research.
Most of this legislation or research that Trump has reversed took decades to put into place within our government.
But who cares, Trump is Making America Great Again – and that is all that matters, right?
According to France (and other countries), Trump is not doing a good job protecting the environment. In fact, they might believe he is simply doing a poor job overall.
So, with France being France, they decided to put their money where their mouth is. France decided to award 13 American scientists funding for research that will continue for the entirety of President Trump’s term.
According to Vice News, “The ‘Make Our Planet Great Again’ grants, first announced in June, are designed specifically to help offset the damage caused by the climate-change denying administration in Washington, which announced its withdrawal from the landmark 2015 Paris accord earlier this year.
In order to openly review and discuss environmental research of the past year, the One World Summit will be held this week in Paris. “World leaders are scheduled to gather in the French capital Tuesday for the One Planet Summit, held on the second anniversary of the signing of the Paris accord, which pledged to keep global temperatures below a 2 degrees celsius increase this century.
Fifty global leaders are expected to attend, as well as representatives from the World Bank and the United Nations. Trump, who once called climate change a hoax perpetrated by the Chinese, was reportedly left off the invite list.“
If America wants to do the right thing, and truly make America great again, then Trump will be out of office as soon as possible. The damage he is inflicting – here and abroad – is immeasurable.
