After taking a look at the latest numbers, it’s clear that Hillary Clinton is in better position now compared with two weeks ago. Trump briefly took the lead in national polls, a boost that was expected after the RNC wrapped up. But a largely solid (and sometimes inspiring) DNC, coupled with a spiraling Donald Trump, have Clinton back in the lead. If you’re still catching up, click here and take a few minutes to read how the Dems put the smack down on the Republicans this summer.
In the latest CNN/ORC poll, Clinton holds a 52% to 43% lead, perhaps opening up a gap that will be difficult to over come. Adding insult to Trump’s injury, Fox News released a poll that has Clinton leading by 10 points in a head-to-head with Trump, and 9 points in a match up between Trump and Gary Johnson.
CNN also reports that Clinton has increased her lead in three important swing states that Trump had been targeting. Despite the fact that changing demographics allowed the Trump campaign to believe they had a legitimate chance at winning Michigan, New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania, Republican-party in-fighting and an increasing amount of Trump missteps seem to be hurting him. All this while Clinton’s favorable ratings continue to rise (as do President Obama’s).
While we’re still three full months away from the November election, it’s clear that Clinton’s best strategy at this point is to stay on message and just watch the Trump show. So grab your popcorn and hop in your recliner – it’s clear this is going to be an entertaining election, if nothing else!
