Dictionary.com just announced their word of the year. It’s a complete smack in the face to Ivanka Trump.

Dictionary.com is one of very few organizations enjoying its best year in 2017. Back in April, dictionary.com took to twitter and offered Sean Spicer a sort of delayed auto-correct. In answering a question about Russia’s continued support of the Syrian government, Spicer famously said, “We didn’t use chemical weapons in World War II. You had a — someone who is as despicable as Hitler who didn’t even use chemical weapons. You have to, if you’re Russia, ask yourself, is this a country and regime you want to align yourself with?”

Sean Spicer was then met with cacophonous outrage when, while trying to correct his previous statement, he tried to coin the term “Holocaust centers.” Once again, Dictionary.com came to his aid.

This week, the website announced its choice for word of the year.

The website cites distinct surges in search popularity, the first occurring just after SNL aired a parody perfume advertisement with Scarlett Johansson playing the role of Ivanka Trump.

Many thanks to dictionary.com for their continued efforts to inform both the Trump administration and those who voted them into power what words actually mean. Special thanks to Saturday Night Live for making this unbearable year just slightly less hellish.

But… am I alone in being a little bit disappointed that covfefe didn’t win? 2017 was inarguably the all-time most covfefe year. Just to bring everything full circle, let’s not forget the extent to which Sean Spicer was complicit in covfefe.
