While there is still much we don’t know about Trump’s connection with Russia before the election, there are many things we do know. In fact, literally every day new pieces of vital information are being released that continue to connect the dots.
More of these facts recently came to light following a report released by the CIA with information that proves Russia interfered with the US Presidential election to help Donald Trump win.
It is also clear now – and arguably equally as disturbing – that the senate majority leader, Mitch McConnell (R – KY) was working feverishly to keep this information masked. More specifically, he attempted keep the CIA from releasing the information by threatening to blame the Obama White House of playing a game of partisan politics.
According to the Washington Post:
“Intelligence agencies have identified individuals with connections to the Russian government who provided WikiLeaks with thousands of hacked emails from the Democratic National Committee and others, including Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman, according to U.S. officials. Those officials described the individuals as actors known to the intelligence community and part of a wider Russian operation to boost Trump and hurt Clinton’s chances.”
Our intelligence agencies know this is happening. It’s not conspiracy theory. It’s not the biased left-wing media. It’s actual US intelligence agencies saying they know it happened. That didn’t stop McConnell, though:
“The Democratic leaders in the room unanimously agreed on the need to take the threat seriously. Republicans, however, were divided, with at least two GOP lawmakers reluctant to accede to the White House requests.
According to several officials, McConnell raised doubts about the underlying intelligence and made clear to the administration that he would consider any effort by the White House to challenge the Russians publicly an act of partisan politics.”
Some of the Republicans in the briefing also seemed opposed to the idea of going public with such explosive allegations in the final stages of an election, a move that they argued would only rattle public confidence and play into Moscow’s hands.
McConnell’s office did not respond to a request for comment. After the election, Trump chose McConnell’s wife, Elaine Chao, as his nominee for transportation secretary.
An act of partisan politics? Really? That McConnell can’t see the irony in that statement is the truly staggering part of this whole report.
Folks, we are faced with the dark reality that the United States must now deal with the terrible mistake it made in electing Donald Trump as our 45th President. And while there are many who would work to cover up and sweep away what they consider just a scandal, the truth is what they are doing is ignoring the most underhanded, anti-American scam in our history.
What’s even more infuriating is that Trump continues to execute his duties as if the only person on earth that really matters is him.
Right now we’re up shit creek. But thankfully, Robert Mueller is our paddle. Let’s hope he can steer us back into the straight and narrow.
God save the United States of America…
