President Trump has been retweeting conspiracy theories that claim that the death of bin Laden was nothing more than a hoax, and now the former Navy SEAL with first hand knowledge of that very moment in time is pushing back at the president.
Robert O’Neill is the former Navy SEAL who is widely known for his role in the operation that killed Osama bin Laden – in fact, O’Neill has said he is the one who personally killed bin Laden in the 2011 raid- and he is taking Trump to task over his irresponsible tweets promoting the conspiracy theory. Trump and others have been retweeting from accounts that claim that it was bin Laden’s body double that was killed rather than bin Laden himself.
O’Neill spoke carefully in a tweet recently, “Very brave men said [goodbye] to their kids to go kill Osama bin Laden. We were given the order by President Obama. It was not a body double. Thank you Mr. President. Happy birthday @USNavy.”

O’Neill crafted the tweet after the president retweeted a QAnon-linked account with the hoax information. The account has now been suspended but Trump found ANOTHER video the very next day promoting more conspiracies about bin Laden’s death.
No comment was immediately offered from the White House.
O’Neill has been an avid Trump supporter and back in August, after posting a picture of himself not wearing a mask in a plane cabin, he was banned from all Delta flights, so this push back should be heard loud and clear by Trump.
O’Neill added another tweet, saying, “Shit. I just found out that I killed Osama bin Johnson. Drinks are on me, I guess….”
The 2011 Seal Team Six raid which killed Bin Laden on his compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, was ordered by then-President Barack Obama.
Trump has also attacked his opponent former VP Joe Biden over the raid.
