A poll just released from Quinnipiac University reveal that Donald Trump’s approval ratings have dropped significantly since he began the transition process to become the next President of the United States.
In fact, all of the major drivers for measurement show that since the same poll was taken on November 22, Trump has lost and continues to lose the confidence and faith of the US electorate.
53 – 39 percent that he is not honest, compared to 52 – 42 percent November 22;
49 – 44 percent that he has good leadership skills, compared to 56 – 38 percent;
52 – 44 percent that he does not care about average Americans, compared to 51 – 45 percent who said he did care;
62 – 33 percent that he is not level-headed, compared to 57 – 38 percent;
71 – 25 percent that he is a strong person, compared to 74 – 23 percent;
68 – 27 percent that he is intelligent, compared to 74 – 21 percent.
The poll also measured drivers including overall behavior and social-media fight picking, and again the numbers reveal that Trump is doing himself harm by continuing his reactive rhetoric. A full 28% feel worse about Trump’s behaviors since the election, and 64% believe he should completely give up his social media accounts in order to serve in a dignified way.
Trump won the election, which in his mind — and in the minds of many analysts — would seem to have vindicated his brand of politics and many of the decisions he made on the campaign trail. He got elected, so it all must have been secret political genius!
That’s not really how things work, though. Trump squeaked his way into the White House with a very narrow win in which he got 46 percent of the vote, won the states he needed to by less than a point, and lost the national popular vote, as voters told pollsters said they had huge reservations about him.
People set aside those reservations a little after he was elected. This poll suggests that those concerns have returned, as real as ever. And that’s bad news for Trump’s political mandate 10 days before he’s sworn in.
We agree, Mr. Blake. And we are going to do everything we can to support the grassroots effort to win back the White House in four years!
