Bloomberg has just released a bombshell interview with the Kremlin-affiliated lawyer at the center of the now notorious meeting with Donald Trump Jr. and a gaggle of shady figures — including the recently indicted Paul Manafort — back in June 2016.
The Bloomberg reporters are said to have interviewed the Russian Natalia Veselnitskaya in Moscow for 2½ hours. Ms. Veselnitskaya claims that she attended the New York meeting in order to to provide Trump campaign officials with dirt on Democratic and to lobby against the Magnitsky Act which was written to punish Russian officials for the 2009 murder of Sergei Magnitsky, a Russian tax accountant who accused the Kremlin of massive corruption, to the tune of $230 million of state funds which were diverted to civil servants.
During the course of the interview, Veselnitskaya claims that Donald Trump Jr. said that if his won, he would be open to using his position as president to push for changes to a “U.S. law that targets Russian officials,” reports Bloomberg. She recalls the words of Donald Trump Jr. as follows:
“Looking ahead, if we come to power, we can return to this issue and think what to do about it. I understand our side may have messed up, but it’ll take a long time to get to the bottom of it.”
Though the Russian lawyer reiterated to Bloomberg that she was not acting in any official capacity to represent the Russian government, she did say that would tell “this and other things” the Senate Judiciary Committee — with a caveat that her answers must be made public. Veselnitskaya also said that she would testify to Special Counsel Robert Mueller, if she is asked to do so.
