The Mueller Legal Team Just Made the Trump Legal Team Look Like a Bunch of Idiots

According to an email sent from  Paul Dowd, a member of Trump’s legal team, to the Wall Street Journal, special counsel Robert Mueller’s team used “invasive” tactics and employed a “gross abuse of the judicial process” for the sake of “shock value” by raiding former campaign manager Paul Manafort’s Alexandria, Virginia home in late July.

Trump Lawyer John Dowd exclaimed that Mueller’s task force looks more like something we would find “in Russia, not America!,” presumably without the slightest bit of irony.

When news broke that Special Counsel Robert Mueller had impaneled a grand jury in Washington to gather evidence related to his investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, the White House appeared completely ignorant, despite pervasive media coverage. Lawyer Ty Cobb, who had only been on the president’s legal team for a few days, issued a statement saying he didn’t know even know about it.  Jay Sekulow, another member of Trump’s legal team, went on Fox News later to reiterate that the president himself wasn’t under investigation.

This president, whose campaign seemed to be actuated by the persona he created for his reality show, indeed delights in firing folks. It’s the hiring he cannot seem to manage. Apart from the revolving door turnover rate in his administration, we have appointments such: as an ardent hater of public schools serving as Education Secretary, a man whose background was claim to prominence was to be anti-everything-environmental running the show over at the EPA, and lover of all things fossil as Secretary of Energy.

So far, none of those really cost the president anything. His nepotism and disastrous crony appointments serve as a perpetual middle-finger to America, but I’m sure his base must love it. When one finds oneself in the extraordinary position of being a sitting president whose campaign staff, administration, family — and self — are under an increasingly widening investigation into possible collusion with a hostile foreign government for the intent of undermining American democracy, well, it’s ill-advised to lawyer up based on who’s made money for you, who you’ve partnered with, who kisses your ass the most thoroughly, or who consistently posts the dankest memes on Facebook.

Trump will find this out the hard way. Robert Mueller’s team consists of the actual best-of-the-best, most of whom have sacrificed multi-million dollar jobs simply to join his team. They’re not just on another level — they’re playing an entirely different game than Trump’s buds.
