In case you haven’t been paying attention, our president likes to vacation.
Trump spends what time he has to at the White House, but it’s clear he would much rather spend time at his “winter White House,” Mar-a-Lago, located in beautiful Palm Beach, FL. And despite constant criticisms of President Obama’s love of golf, Trump has already made Obama look like a part-time, amateur golf hack.
We’re not here today to offer our opinions of Trump’s trips down south – the cost to the nation, the cost to the local governments, the cost to local economy, the conflicts-of-interest, the fact that he turns his dining room into a pay-to-play situation room…we’re just not going to comment on those things.
What we will comment on is the fact that The Washington Post has done some math. And they figured out that Trump has spent about 1 of every 5 minutes of his presidency at Mar-a-Lago.
“If we tally the time spent in Palm Beach (at Mar-a-Lago and his golf clubs nearby) rounded to the half-hour since he was inaugurated and through noon on Monday, Trump has spent about one out of every five minutes of his presidency at the “winter White House” — 424.5 hours there and 1,663.5 hours everywhere else, including on Air Force One headed to Mar-a-Lago. (That trip takes about an hour-and-a-half, so that’s an additional 21 hours spent flying there and back.)”
The Post goes on the point out that their numbers do NOT reflect time spent getting to and from Mar-a-Lago – just the actual time there.
