In a long-running tradition, aides from both major party nominees met for a “post-mortem” forum at Harvard University in which they discussed the election, the details, the methods, the messages, and the results.
Well, “discussed” might be a bit of an under-exaggeration. “Shouting match” might more accurately describe the goings on.
NBC News’s Andrea Mitchell was one of the moderators, and described the contentious highlights of the evening, including the headliner match-up between Kellyanne Conway and Hillary Clinton’s Campaign Communications Director, Jennifer Palmieri. “I would rather lose than win the way you guys did,” Palmieri exclaimed at one point. Conway’s response? “No you wouldn’t.”
Perhaps the most-heated moment of the night dealt with the appointment of Steve Bannon to Donald Trump’s cabinet, as controversial an appointment as one can remember because of his connection to Breitbart News, a known platform for the Alt-Right and White Supremacist movements in America. Conway asked the question, “Do you think I ran a campaign where white supremacists had a platform? You gonna look me in the face and tell me that?” To which Palmieri calmly replies, “It did, Kellyanne! It Did!”
