At this point, we would expect that fiscally conservative heads would be exploding. But it looks like they are just fine with the fact that the Trump family’s constant trips to Mar-a-Lago are expected to cost the American taxpayers nearly $1,000,000,000. [Yes, that’s 1 billion dollars…with a “b”.]
- 21 of 82 days as President, Donald Trump has been at Mar-a-Lago
- 17 of those days have been on the golf course
- These trips have cost more than $21 million. That number does NOT include the cost to protect Eric and Donald Jr. on business trips abroad, or the cost of sending close to 100 secret service agents to protect the family in Aspen.
But the most telling statistic for the man who constantly blasted Barack Obama, and who said he was going to “fix Washington,” is this: in eight years, President Obama’s travel cost Americans around $97 million. Trump is set to blow past that huge number in only one year. The bottom line? If Trump stays in office for two terms, and spends at this rate, he will easily surpass $800 million shuttling back and forth from the White House to Mar-a-Lago.
Folks, there is absolutely no reasonable persons – let alone “fiscally-conservative Republican” who should be OK with this. And frankly, it all those Trump voters aren’t absolutely furious about this, then clearly electing Donald Trump had very little to do with “draining the swamp,” “fixing Washington,” or cutting frivolous spending. I’ll let the readers come to their own conclusions…
