Just a day after the FBI raided the Florida residence of former President Donald Trump, former First Lady, Senator, Secretary of State and Trump Presidential campaign opponent Hillary Clinton responded with a tweet promoting merchandise featuring the phrase “But Her Emails,” a phrase used by many in the last several years to point out right-wing hypocrisy when it comes to being outraged over Clinton but not Trump.  The Tweet also featured a picture of Clinton wearing one of the hats.

Clinton tweeted that proceeds for the hats and T-shirts sold will support Onward Together, the political action committee she founded following her 2016 election defeat to the failed businessman and twice impeached President.

A follow-up tweet from Clinton said that the hats had sold out very quickly but were available for preorder for when they are back in stock.

Trump revealed in a statement posted to his Truth Social media platform that the FBI had executed a search warrant at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, where he has lived since leaving the White House in January of 2021. Most reports have said that the raid was related to an investigation into the former Presidents allegerd mishandling of classified documents that he took with him to Florida, which is illegal.

Trump famously made Clinton’s email security a centerpiece of his 2016 campaign, often leading chants of “lock her up” at his hate-filled rallies.  Because everything Trump does is projection, his own handling of private and classified information has also long been under scrutiny.

Trump issued a scathing statement when announcing the search on Monday night:

“These are dark times for our Nation, as my beautiful home, Mar-A-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida is currently under siege, raided and occupied by a large group of FBI agents…they even broke into my safe!”

In his statement, Trump also whined about what he calls the “weaponization” of the DOJ and FBI and compared it to Watergate, and also again referenced (and lied about) Clinton’s used of a private email server when she served as Secretary of State under President Obama:

“Hillary Clinton was allowed to delete and acid wash 33,000 E-mails AFTER they were subpoenaed by Congress. Absolutely nothing has happened to hold her accountable.”
