An former Fox News reporter has called out the network and one of its stars, Tucker Carlson, and adds that the White House should act to confront social media to stop disinformation online by punishing offenders with jail time, “or worse.”

Carlson has been under fire amid more allegations that he promotes a white nationalist agenda on air which have been exacerbated in the wake of the Buffalo shootings earlier this month.

Carl Cameron, former chief political correspondent for the controversial conservative network, noted his belief that those who promote  ‘misinformation’ should be put in ‘jail.’

Carl Cameron was asked by CNN’s Jim Acosta on Saturday “Do you think the Murdoch family in charge of Fox will ever pull the plug on Tucker?”

Cameron responded:

“The fact of the matter is, if you disturb the peace by starting a riot in a movie theater, cops are going to arrest you and you might end up in jail or you might end up in something worse.”

Cameron continued by challenging President Joe Biden to take action against Carlson and social media accounts that promote such agendas:

“The president has to be more forceful and sooner or later the law enforcement and the US government is going to have to stop the lying because it’s causing people’s deaths. It’s not just Fox, it’s social media in general. It’s on the internet. And we have to remember that a good portion of what we read is coming from folks who aren’t Americans, pretending to be Americans in order to gaslight them even worse.”

The suspect in the Buffalo shooting, Payton S. Gendron, followed the white nationalist ‘The Great Replacement Theory,’ which Carlson has repeatedly been accused of promoting on air.  It is the belief that non-white immigration is a liberal conspiracy to alter the racial makeup and landscape of the country.

During an MSNBC interview in April, Cameron was asked how Fox News executives could deal with the fact that Payton Gendron’s beliefs mirrored so much of Tucker Carlson’s show.

His response:

“I can’t even imagine. That’s partly why I ended up getting out of there.”
