Some people found it odd that the first wife of former President Donald Trump, Ivana, also the mother of his first three children, was to be buried at one of his golf courses after she was found dead at her home several weeks ago.

Ivana Trump was buried on first hole of the golf course at Trump’s Westminster Golf Resort.

Several people quickly got to what is likely the real reason for this strange burial location, though, and of course it has something to do with the Trump family avoiding paying their fair share of taxes.

Dartmouth Professor of Sociology Brooke Harrington took to Twitter and posted some tax credits that will benefit the Trump property with Ivana buried there:

Since it seems Donald Trump will now be able to declare his golf course a cemetery, that means the following, according to New Jersey law:

“‘Cemetery Company’ means an individual, corporation, partnership, association, or other public or private entity which owns, operates, controls, or manages land or places used to dedicated for use for burial of human remains or disposition of cremated human remains, including a crematory located on dedicated cemetery property.”

“The act relieves cemetery companies from the payment of: Real Property Taxes on lands dedicated to cemetery purposes; income taxes, and sales [and] use taxes.”

Journalist Phoebe Wall Howard of The Detroit Free Press also noticed this amazing coincidence:

Molly Jong-Fast of The Daily Beast also commented, albeit with a little more snark:

Jong-Fast added “Business and inheritance taxes are exempt, too. Also, cemetery property is exempt from sale for collection of judgments.”
