On Sunday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D. CA) said that she believes that the Supreme Court of the United States is “dangerous” for families and freedom in the country, as justices appear ready to overturn Roe v. Wade.

During an interview with CNN’s Dana Bash on “State of the Union,” Pelosi said that if the highest court in the land scales back abortion rights at the federal level, they are likely to go after marriage equality next:

“Let’s not take our eye off the ball. The ball is this court, which is dangerous to the freedoms of our country. Beware in terms of marriage equality, beware in terms of other aspects of it, and so it is, let’s not waste our time on that.”

The Speaker continued:

“The fact is, this is a dangerous court to families, to freedom in our country. And that is why people have to mobilize. My saying is we don’t agonize we organize, we go out there and make sure people know that if they, actually elections have consequences.”

Pelosi was referring to a leaked SCOTUS opinion from Justice Alito that said “Roe was egregiously wrong from the start,” and said that “a right to abortion is not deeply rooted in the Nation’s history.”

While Chief Justice John Roberts later admitted the document was authentic, he emphasized that it does not necessarily reflect the court’s final decision.

While the Senate saw Republicans with the assistance of Democrat Joe Manchin of West Virginia block a measure to codify Roe into law, protests have broken out across the nation in the aftermath of the leak, with those against overturning the 50 year old ruling warning that overturning the precedent will likely cause decreases in other protections.

Pelosi also threw in some digs at former President Donald Trump, who appointed three right-wing justices during his term:

“Who would have ever suspected that a creature like Donald Trump would become president of the United States, waving a list of judges that he would appoint, therefore getting the support of the far right and appointing those anti-freedom justices to the court?”
