Former New York Mayor and Donald Trump goon Rudy Giuliani was viciously assaulted last weekend while campaigning for his son, Andrew, in a Saten Island grocery store.  The attack was a hit to the back so hard that according to Rudy, it “felt like a gunshot,” and he could have been knocked over and cracked open his skull.

Fortunately, there was Closed Circuit recording of the attack that was released shortly after it happened to prove that what Rudy felt was so vicious was nothing more than a tap.

The “attacker” did ask Giuliani “what’s up, scumbag?” so maybe his ego was bruised more than his body.

Even ultra-conservative Newsmax laughed off Rudy’s claims of assault as host Greg Kelly told him “I’m going to show the people what happened and you tell me, because let me see the video if you don’t mind, uh, this person with the hand on your back, I’ve got to be honest — it doesn’t look that bad…But I understand that looks can be deceiving.”

Rudy responded by lying that what Kelly showed him was actually a woman rubbing his back after, for which Kelly called him out, saying, “are you watching?”

Rudy then doubled down, saying “So the woman, that woman, uh, gave a statement to the police and the guy hit me so hard that she herself almost fell from the reverberation of it. She’s a city worker. There’s a second-grade detective there, that’s the lady who helped me.”

After that, Kelly dropped the issue, albeit while chuckling at Rudy’s lies.

Rudy later went on the air with former Trump advisor Steve Bannon to complain some more about he could have died, as well as bemoan the lack of coverage of the event from Fox News:

“I’m OK. I mean, I’m in pain. The guy knocked me forward two or three steps. Luckily, I didn’t fall. He started yelling at me that I’m a woman killer. We have to arrest him because we have got to make a point of this. These people can’t keep doing this. I mean, I’m 78, 79 — I don’t even remember.”

“The simple fact is they are violent and, basically, we’re not. That’s why Jan. 6 is such an aberration and why I have my own thoughts about Jan. 6.”

“But the fact that the mayor of New York, one of the only two living ex-mayors of New York and probably, I’d say modestly, the most famous was assaulted is not even on Fox. Even if Putin got assaulted it would be on Fox.”

Daniel Gill, 39, the ShopRite employee who hit Giuliani on the back, had his charges downgraded as early as Monday.

Gill had no previous criminal history and saw his his charges downgraded to third-degree assault, third-degree menacing, and second-degree harassment after being initially charged with second-degree assault of someone over 65 years of age.

Gill’s attorney, Susan Platis, issued the following statement:

“It appears to be a tap on the back and not a slap. This is not criminal contact, it is very unlikely that the touch could have caused any injury. So to call this assault in the third, or even menacing, is a stretch.”
