According to Business Insider, Donald Trump Jr has invited his father’s supporters to sign the former president’s online birthday card, as long as they donate to his reelection campaign, that is.

The report claims that the eldest Trump son made sent an email to Trump supporters, saying, “My father has done so much for this great Country, and I know it would mean so much to him to see YOUR NAME on his OFFICIAL Birthday Card.”

Trump turned 76 on June 14.

The email also featured a link that allows  Trump’s loyal followers to write messages to him with a pledge of at least $1.

Trump’s fundraising efforts have come under more scrutiny after the 2020 election as the House select committee investigating the January 6, 2021 insurrection at the US Capitol have estimated that Trump’s campaign earned about $250m post-election, as they asked for supporter’s help in funding Trump’s legal challenges to his election loss to President Joe Biden.

According to Trump aides who testified before the committee, the “Official Election Defense Fund”, as it was described in Trump’s fundraising emails, did not actually  exist, leading congresswoman Zoe Lofgren, a member of the committee, to say “The big lie was also a big rip-off.”

Lofgren later said that “He (Trump) intentionally misled his donors, asked them to donate to a fund that didn’t exist and used the money raised for something other than what it said.”

Lofgren added that Trump Jr’s fiancee, Kimberly Guilfoyle, received $60,000 for a less than three minute speech at the Save America rally that led in to the Capitol riots and that Guilfoyles appearance was allegedly paid for using funds from this same nonexistent “Election Defense Fund”.
