Russian propagandists are saying that if indeed the U.S. Department of Justice, through the FBI, have been investigating what, if any, classified documents former President Donald Trump may have illegally moved to his residence upon leaving the White House, the Russian government has had their hands on said documents for a long time.

Russia-1 television, one of the main state operated media channels in Russia, recently said that officials at the Kremlin have been “studying” classified, and even top secret, U.S. documents the FBI was looking for when they executed a search warrant the Mar-a-Lago resort home of former President Donald Trump two weeks ago.

The Washington Post reported on last week that records related to nuclear weapons were sought by the federal agents who raided Trump’s home with the approval of Attorney General Merrick Garland.  Trump has since said that the reporting as a “hoax.”

Host Evgeny Popov mentioned the reporting about nuclear weapons during a recent segment:

“Turns out that the investigation against Trump has to do with the disappearance of secret documents from the White House, related to the development of nuclear weapons by the U.S. The FBI isn’t saying what kinds of weapons, or what they found in Trump’s estate. Obviously, if there were any important documents, they’ve been studying them in Moscow for a while.”

“What’s the point of searching?” Popov sarcastically asked, implying that trying to protect the secret information is already a futile endeavor.

In response, former President Trump took to his Truth Media platform to complain:

“Nuclear weapons issue is a Hoax, just like Russia, Russia, Russia was a Hoax, two Impeachments were a Hoax, the Mueller investigation was a Hoax, and much more. Same sleazy people involved.”

Critics of the former President have speculated for years that he worked with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who he consistently praised throughout his term in the White House. They also frequently pointed to Trumps’ many business ties with Moscow.

Trump has almost always described such theories, as well as the appointment of Special Counsel Robert Mueller to investigate Trump’s ties to Russia as a “hoax” and a “witch hunt.”
