Former First Lady, Senator, Secretary of State, and Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is slamming Supreme Court Justice turned ultra-conservative activist Clarence Thomas after he helped the conservative majority of the court overturn Roe v. Wade, saying he is a “person of grievance.”
Speaking to Gayle King on CBS This Morning, Clinton said:
“I went to law school with him. He’s been a person of grievance for as long as I have known him. Resentment, grievance, anger … women are going to die, Gayle. Women will die.”
Thomas has received much criticism from feminists, women’s rights groups, and Democrats in general after the court’s ruling last week.
Thomas himself has long been an opponent of Roe, and in his written opinion on the ruling suggested that the court should next reconsider other rights such as contraception and same-sex marriage, though he conveniently left off interracial marriages, such as his own.
“He has signaled in the past to lower courts, to state legislatures to find cases, pass laws, get them up. I may not get them the first, the second, or the third time, but we’re going to keep at it.”
Justice Thomas has also been sharply criticized by Democrats over his refusal to recuse himself from any Jan. 6, 2021 related cases over the fact that his activist wife Ginni Thomas seemingly played a prominent role in efforts to keep former President Donald Trump in office in spite of losing the 2020 election.
